HARVEY HERMAN: THE WORLD AROUND US Quogue Library Art Gallery Exhibit Join us for the artist reception Saturday, January 6 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Harvey Herman has traveled the world to find beauty. From the long bay reeds in the wind, to bamboo forests bent over by heavy snow, the fruit farms in the spring, and the natural wildlife that surrounds us, he has decided that the East End may be one of the most beautiful places of them all. A resident of Hampton Bays, Mr. Herman teaches painting classes at local libraries, where he encourages children and adults to appreciate the beauty of the East End and, “capture the moment”, so that others can enjoy the vision. He is motivated to share his talent with others through a firm belief in the need to “give back” to the community. January’s exhibit will feature Mr. Herman’s favorite subjects, including images of his Koi pond, indigenous wildlife, local waterfront landscapes and winter scenes. During his career as a Creative Director at Herman and Rosner, an advertising agency that specialized in campaigns aimed at children, Mr. Herman was named one of Adweek’s “Creative 100”. He also directed an Emmy nominated children’s series for ABC, called Little Vic, as well as hundreds of commercials. Most recently, Mr. Herman has been featured on the cover of Dan’s Papers twice and has shown his work throughout eastern Long Island. He has also published a book for parents, called Wings and Roots, and is currently working on another book, as well as a new series of paintings, which promises to capture some of the teaching experiences he has had with members of our local communities. This show will be on exhibit from January 3rd through the 29th.
