Art Hike for Tick Bite Safety & Awareness—Poster Contest Winner Announced!
Tick-Wise Education president, April Nill-Boitano, MSEd, and East End Tick & Mosquito Control president, Brian Kelly, are proud to host the Art Hike for Tick Awareness at SOFO, the South Fork Natural History Museum, a free, family-friendly event, open to the public.
Over the last few months, Tick-Wise Education has held a poster contest, Tick Bite Safety Awareness, for children. The contest, created by Boitano and Legislator Bridget Fleming, showcases all of the things Suffolk County children have learned this spring from the Tick-Wise Education Program.
The winning posters of the 2019 contest will be displayed on the beautiful back lawn of the museum—Vineyard Field — and after this event will be placed in the Suffolk Country Parks’ kiosks for the entire season to warn campers and hikers of the dangers of ticks.
The afternoon will feature an “art hike” through Vineyard Field, tick bite prevention strategies presented by local experts, and information on how to check for ticks and how to safely remove them. At the event, the first place winner of the poster contest will be announced and prizes will be awarded.
This event will be held rain or shine
This is a FREE Program.
