The East Hampton girls swim team capped off its second straight undefeated season in League III last week, after a 92-76 home win over Harborfields on October 18. The Lady Bonackers (5-0 in league, 6-2 overall), will now set their sights on postseason meets, starting with the League III Championships, set for October 24 at Hauppauge High School. That meet is the last chance for any swimmers who have not hit qualifying times in certain events to make it into the Suffolk County (state qualifier) meet, set for November 3 at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood.
Prior to the meet with Harborfields, East Hampton had a strong contingent of swimmers who had already qualified for counties in one or more events, including Sophia Swanson, Jane Brierley, Kiara Bailey-Williams, Margaret Breen, Julia Brierley, Oona Foulser, Camryn Hatch, Caroline Brown, and Darcy McFarland. East Hampton will also be represented in the 200-yard medley relay, and the 200 and 400 free relays.
Several Bonac swimmers hit personal-best times in the win over Harborfields, and the team honored its two senior, Foulser and Emma Wiltshire, with a ceremonial swim prior to the start of the meet. Bailey-Williams, a Pierson sophomore, was named the “Swimmer of the Meet” by her teammates, after earning her season-long goal of qualifying for counties in the 200 IM.
Jane Brierley won both the 200 yard IM and the 100 breaststroke in the win over Harborfields, while Foulser won the 50 free and Sophia Swanson won the 100 free.
