Born December 21, 1926, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to the late Weldon and Pearl (Brown) Wright, he was one of six children. At the age of three, his family moved to Brooklyn. He attended New York City public schools and joined the Army Air Force during World War WII. He was a member of the 5th Airborne Division.

He married the late Dolores Jane Smith of Southampton and they had eight children: Reginald Keith, Bernard Eugene, Edwin Phillip, Beverly Annette, Roger Leonard, Glenn Brian, Bruce Darryl, and Scott Terrance.

He worked for the New York City Transit Association, retiring in 1986, after many years of service. After his retirement, he and wife, Dolores, along with sons, Bruce and Scott, moved to Shinnecock Indian Reservation, where Dolores was born.

Mr. Wright always had special stories to share and music he enjoyed playing for others. He was a patient and kind person, who looked for ways to encourage others to share their talents and gifts, survivors said.
