The Southampton boys tennis team put three singles players and four doubles teams into the Suffolk County Team Tournament, and while several players had strong outings on the courts, none of them qualified for counties.

Ryan Grigo, Duke Fagan and Aiden Campo all lost in the first round in the singles draw. The doubles team of Michael Daffy and Ruben Schneiderman, seeded eighth, won a pair of three-set matches before falling to top-seeded Jaedon Glasstein and Alex Weseley of East Hampton in straight sets.

The fifth-seeded Mariners double team of Billy Hattrick and Jomel De La Cruz won their first round match before a tough three-set loss in the second round. Elijah Halsey and Ricky Sobrevinas won in three sets in the first round before dropping their second round match. Luke Saccanaghi and Tyler Moore also won their first-round match only to fall in the second round.

The season is not quite over for the Mariners. By placing fourth in League VII, the Mariners (4-6 League VII, 5-8 overall) qualified for the Suffolk County Team Tournament as the No. 23 team in the bracket. They are slated to start play this Tuesday, May 14, at No. 10 Northport at 4 p.m. The winner of that match will face No. 7 Ward Melville the following day, also at 4 p.m.
