Southampton Garden Club Will Host Disney Themed Flower Show

author on Jun 17, 2019

Southampton Garden Club will host a Garden Club of America Flower Show themed “Films of Enchantment: The Legacy of Walt Disney” at Parrish Memorial Hall in Southampton Village on Saturday, June 29.

Displays based on Disney’s feature films will be prepared for five divisions: floral design, horticulture, photography, botanical art and conservation/education. Each division will have classes, including one for children.

The Garden Club of America is a nonprofit organization with 200 member clubs and around 18,000 individual members, according to its website. The flower show, the first for the Southampton Garden Club since 2014, will have judges who will award the best of the entries with trophies.

Debbie Mola Mickler, an area manager for the Walt Disney World Nursery, will give a presentation over lunch discussing her work with Disney’s horticulture services team and Disney’s iconic garden designs.

The flower show will be free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 235 Herrick Road. Space for the lunch and presentation, to be held at 12:30 p.m., is limited. Tickets can be purchased for $125 in advance from the Southampton Garden Club website at sgcny.org.

As National Safe Digging Month begins, PSEG Long Island reminds customers, contractors and excavators that the law requires them to call 811 before digging to ensure underground pipelines, conduits, wires and cables are properly marked out. Every digging project, even a small project like planting a tree or building a deck, requires a call to 811. The call is free and the mark-out service is free.
