Mel Brooks could compose a song titled “Springtime for Gansett” if he knew about how many big sales are blooming in the hamlet. Just a few reported in the last few weeks demonstrate that Amagansett has been hotter than the air temperature in the spring of 2018.

Let’s begin with 18 Cranberry Lane, which was purchased by Tina and John Novogratz for $8,750,000. The two-story home has “true old world charm,” we’re told, built in 1910 but has also been updated. There are 6 bedrooms and 3 baths, a living room, a country kitchen, a dining room, a sun room, and an in-ground pool set on a whopping 5 acres with a great sweeping lawn and water views.

By the way, John Novogratz is the brother of Robert Novogratz, known for the interior design show “9 by Design” on Bravo. This may have helped when Tina and John Novogratz restored a turreted Romanesque Revival building in the Park Slope neighborhood. The 10,000-square-foot structure is known as the “Chiclet Mansion” because it was once the home of the chewing gum family who invented the tasty treat.

Next up is 94 Miankoma Lane, bought by Cheryl Raboy and the Penniman II Trust for $5,650,000. The 4,600-square-foot residence has 6 bedrooms and 5.5 baths on a 0.52-acre parcel. It can be found in the “lanes” of Amagansett, and the property includes a heated pool, formal dining room, and an office. The first floor boasts a double height entry foyer, a convenient ensuite guest bedroom, a half bath, a professional eat-in kitchen with all high-end appliances, a dining room, and a grand living room with a gas fireplace. A series of French doors allows natural light and easy access to the lush backyard. The second level has a generous master with a luxurious spa-like bathroom, a walk-in closet and a separate office with access to its own deck. Two additional bedrooms and bath complete the second floor. The finished lower level offers a media area, gym, bedroom and full bath.

A tad less, $5,600,000, was the price paid by Lisa and Gary Straus for 56 Hedges Lane. The 5,100-square-foot traditional on 0.38 acre has 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths on two stories. The entry features finished 7.5-inch oak floors that spread out past the powder room to find the great room with fireplace offering a wall of glass providing light. The professional kitchen boasts custom cabinetry, white quartz countertops, Miele double wall ovens, two dishwashers, a sub-zero refrigerator, and a wine column. A “fireplaced” first-floor master suite with bath provides access to the grounds. Upstairs another spacious master suite with fireplace has its own private deck and bath. Three additional guest suites complete the second floor. Other amenities include a built-in outdoor cooking area hosting a 48-inch grill, outdoor shower, and a detached 1.5 car garage.

One more: 54 Broadview Road, purchased for $5,095,000 by Martin Atkin and Reid Balthaser—who, the same week, sold a house on Lookout Lane in East Hampton for $3,650,000. Movin’ on up! The Gansett manse of 3,650 square feet has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, den, library, temperature-controlled wine cellar, and 4-car garage all surrounded by lush landscaping with pool and generous outdoor patios and decking, and all on 1.67 acres.
