Edith Krupski of Mattituck, formerly of Bridgehampton, died on June 22. She was 89.
She was born and grew up on the family farm in Bridgehampton, the fifth of eight children, and graduated from the Bridgehampton School. In 1953 she married Anthony Krupski of Mattituck, and she joined him on the Krupski family potato farm for more than 60 years.
Ms. Krupski was a great cook and loved preparing traditional homemade Polish foods for her family, including pierogi, kielbasa, cabbage, potato platski, baked beans, homemade bread, strawberry shortcake and cheesecake. She mastered the art of canning and freezing and was known for her dill and bread-and-butter pickles, canned cauliflower and chow chow. Devoted to her family, she and her husband hosted many Easter celebrations and summer barbecues. She never forgot a birthday or holiday and was a loving, thoughtful and generous aunt to her many nieces and nephews, survivors said, adding that she was always cheerful and kind, and had many good friends. Ms. Krupski was an active member of Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church in Cutchogue. She loved listening to Polish music and dancing the polka and over the years attended many events at the Riverhead Polish Hall and the Moose Lodge with her husband.
She was predeceased by her husband; her parents, Pauline and Stanley Graboski of Bridgehampton; a sister, Sophie Zebrowski of Southampton; and four brothers, Vincent Graboski of East Hampton, Stanley Graboski of Bridgehampton, John Graboski of Lindenhurst and Edmond Graboski of Bridgehampton; and godson and nephew, Teddy Graboski of Bridgehampton. She is survived by a sister, Helen Konopka of Georgia; brother, Benny Graboski and wife Nancy of Bridgehampton; niece and godchild, Lorraine Mitchell and husband Doyle of Georgia; nephew, Eugene Krupski and wife Mary Ann of Mattituck; and niece, Patricia Krupski of Mattituck; along with many devoted nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
