Market Art and Design is stepping up its game for this year’s fine arts fair in Bridgehampton. Returning for its seventh edition, Market Art and Design, formerly called Art Market Hamptons, will display its largest show yet. The 2017 fair will accommodate 65 distinguished exhibitors from around the world.

The four-day event is produced by Art Market Productions, which also generates Art on Paper NY, Art Market San Francisco, Seattle Art Fair, Texas Contemporary and Miami Project. The Brooklyn-based company, founded in 2011 by Jeffrey Wainhause and Max Fishko, is paying special attention to Market Art and Design this year, especially with the cancellation this summer of two other longstanding Hamptons art fairs, Art Southampton and Art Hamptons.

“We’ve been able to grow considerably,” said Art Market Productions director Kelly Freeman. “We can count on the East End to really put a lot of focus on us this year. We have all kinds of support coming in, which is great. This year is bigger and better than it has ever been.”

To fit 65 exhibitors—20 more than last year’s fair—Market Art and Design is building two side-by-side pavilions on the Bridgehampton Museum’s lawn, which will be connected by a hallway.

Art vendors taking part this year include local galleries such as Ille Arts of Amagansett, Kathryn Markel Fine Arts of Bridgehampton and Roman Fine Art of East Hampton, as well as international venues from a variety of countries including Israel, France, Holland and Japan.

The event’s opening night preview on Thursday, July 6, is presented by 1stdibs, a luxury online marketplace of rare antiques, fine arts, vintage furniture and more. Ticket sales from the preview will benefit the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill.

“The Parrish is very pleased to work with Market Art and Design as a cultural partner,” said Parrish director Terrie Sultan.” We’re grateful to them for their support of the museum and the Hamptons’ cultural community.”

Ms. Freeman said of the Parrish, “They’re an incredible collecting institution and such a large part of the East End community. Whatever we can do to support them feels great.”

Ms. Freeman encourages patrons to attend the preview for an opportunity to snatch up some of the best works at the fair.

“We’re expecting many people to come through,” she said. “It’ll be the first look at the fair and the first chance to be the one to take home a piece you like.”

Other cultural partners of Market Art and Design include Art League of Long Island, Brooklyn Museum, Cooper Hewitt, Lincoln Center, Heckscher Museum of Art and the Watermill Center.

A highlight of this year’s fair is a collection of never-before-seen works by the late Southampton artist Larry Rivers.

Dubbed the “Brooklyn of art fairs” by Artnet, Market Art and Design is said to draw in a hipper, younger crowd than its competitors. Ms. Freeman said she believes the fair’s appeal to a young market is attributed to the unique way Art Market Productions produces the event, but she also said the variety of galleries attracts a diverse audience of all ages and tastes.

“We produce a show geared toward fun for the visitor. We have a big, open garden and are very focused on having great food, drinks, wine and music. We make it an all-day experience. People can come after a day at the beach, have an apple spritzer and look at art all while taking in the East End,” Ms. Freeman said.

The Market Art and Design Fair will be held at the Bridgehampton Museum grounds on Friday, July 7, from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, July 9, from noon to 6 p.m. The preview will be Thursday, July 6, from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 for one public day; $25 for all public days; and $35 for the preview including all public days.
