AIA Peconic Rewards Scholars

author on Aug 3, 2015

Four alumni of local high schools who are now attending college recently were selected as 2015 scholarship winners by the Peconic chapter of the American Institute of Architects, known as AIA. Each will receive $7,500 in merit and financial aid scholarships.

The award winners are Leo Ellis, a graduate of Bishop-McGann Mercy High School in Riverhead; Sarah Becker of East Hampton High School; Dominic Arresta of Southampton High School; and Rachel Montgomery of Hampton Bays High School.

The scholarship committee met at the home of its chair, Richard Scheckman of Montauk, to make the selection, and the presentation of awards took place in July at a picnic held on the grounds of the Southampton Historical Museum.

Funds for the scholarship program are raised in part through a AIA Peconic Golf and Dinner event, which will take place on September 15 at Cherry Creek Golf Links in Riverhead. Reservation forms and additional information can be found at aiapeconic.org.
