Events Canceled Due To Hurricane Irene

Due to the impact of Hurricane Irene, the following events have been canceled or postponed:

Yoga Shanti and One Ocean Yoga have moved the yoga class to support the Urban Zen Integrative Therapy program at Southampton Hospital to Sunday, September 4, from 5 to 7 p.m., at One Ocean Yoga on Scuttlehole Road in Bridgehampton.

The New Thought Spiritual Center of Eastern Long Island, in Noyac, has canceled its Sunday service.

The Parrish Art Museum in Southampton will be closed Saturday through Monday, with tentative plans to reopen Tuesday, August 30. Those planning a visit early next week should call the museum at (631) 283-2118 to confirm that it is open.

Canio’s Books in Sag Harbor has postponed its event, with The Nation Editor Katrina Vanden Heuvel and Stephen Cohen, originally scheduled for Saturday, until Thursday, September 1, at 6 p.m. The bookstore will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hampton Jitney will be suspending service after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday evening going westbound, and will resume service Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. from Southampton, providing that public roads are open. The Jitney’s call center will remain open Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. For up-to-date-information, visit the website www.hamptonjitney.com.

The Blue Dream Summer Gala cocktail hour at the Sharing Grounds in Bridgehampton, planned by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons, has been postponed to Sunday, September 4: cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Those who plan to attend should RSVP as soon as possible.

All Department of Motor Vehicles hearings, including Traffic Violations Bureau hearings, scheduled for Monday, August 29, in Manhattan, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland counties, are being postponed. If you have a hearing scheduled, do not appear at the hearing site on Monday. You will be notified of a rescheduled hearing date by mail. Visit nydmv.state.ny.us.

The Hampton Classic Horse Show opening day activities scheduled for Sunday, August 28, have been postponed to Wednesday, August 31. Horses will be able to ship in starting noon on Tuesday, August 30. A revised time schedule will be posted at hamptonclassic.com.

The Bay Street Theatre has canceled shows for “Enter Laughing, The Musical,” on Saturday, August 27 at 4 and 8 p.m., and Sunday, August 28 at 7 p.m. Beginning Monday, August 29, ticket holders to these canceled shows can start calling the box office to reschedule their tickets to see the musical through September 4. An additional matinee for “Enter Laughing” has been added on Saturday, September 3, at 4 p.m. The Comedy Club presentation of Andrea Martin on Monday, August 29, is also canceled. Ticket holders should call the box office on Wednesday, August 31, for refunds at 725-9500.

The Lobster Bash to benefit Maureen’s Haven homeless outreach program, which was to be held at the Quantuck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach on Saturday night, August 27. For more information, call (631) 727-6831, or visit maureenshaven.org.

The Postelles and DJ Tito Cruz Music Unites event at the Surf Lodge on Saturday.

Guild Hall has canceled the Saturday, August 27 performance of “The Night of Stars: Celebrating Guild Hall’s 80th Birthday,” and the Naked Angels “Side Man” staged reading at Guild Hall on Sunday. Ticket holders may call the box office at 324-4050 to convert their tickets. The Garden as Art Tour is still on for Saturday, August 27, at 9:30 a.m. The Tour is now from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The company presenting Angelina Ballerina at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center In Westhampton Beach on Sunday has rescheduled the performances to Saturday, November 26, at 2 and 4 p.m. Those with tickets will be contacted by the box office with details. Money will be refunded or tickets can be transferred to the new date. Call 288-1500.

Two Southampton Trails Preservation Society events planned for this weekend have been canceled: a Sag Harbor-to-Wainscott bike ride set for Saturday, and a Great Swamp Loop hike scheduled for Sunday. The Narrow Lane cleanup scheduled for Sunday, from 8 to 9 a.m., is still on, however. Call 537-5202.

The Red Cross-sponsored “Gatsby on the Green,” scheduled for Saturday on the Village Green at Olde Towne in Southampton, has been canceled. Call (212) 875-2011.

Hampton Cup Polo for this weekend has been canceled. The Bridgehampton Polo Club will host a doubleheader on this afternoon, Friday, August 26. Certified will play Heathcote at 2 p.m., with KIG and Circa set to square off at 4 p.m.
