Most people who surf consider it a hobby or pastime, something they do for fun, or to relax and unwind. For teenagers Jared Bono and Selena Moberly, it’s much more serious than that.
Both Bono, 12, a Sag Harbor resident, and Moberly, 14, a Water Mill resident, have made surfing their chosen sport and, according to their parents, they are every bit as committed to excelling at it as any of their peers who are eyeing college scholarships in more traditional sports like soccer, basketball or softball.
