Sag Harbor--Greenport Ferry Plan Floated

Sag Harbor Village Mayor Brian Gilbride said this week he was on the fence about a proposal to link his village with Greenport via a passenger ferry in a pilot program that proponents hope to launch as soon as Memorial Day.

“Honestly, at this point, I am right in the middle,” Mr. Gilbride said on Tuesday about a recent pitch for the new ferry service, which would include ground shuttle transportation, by Jim Ryan, principal of Response Marine, and Geoff Lynch, the president of the Hampton Jitney. “It’s a time of year when Sag Harbor is very crowded anyway, but I would not rule out that it’s an interesting concept.”
