New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. wants to revise a redistricting proposal currently being considered in Albany that would create a sole East End district encompassing much of the North and South forks.
Mr. Thiele, an Independence Party member who was critical of the way the new lines were drawn—they were crafted by a task force of legislators instead of a nonpartisan commission—initially said he didn’t mind one East End district, which, under the current plan, would have him gaining the towns of Southold and Shelter Island from Assemblyman Dan Losquadro’s district.
