The Hampton Bays softball team picked up a non- league victory on Monday, defeating Comsewogue, 15-3, at home.
After Comsewogue scored two runs in the first inning, Hampton Bays responded in the second, scoring eight runs. The Lady Baymen added three more runs in the fourth, then four runs in the fifth to end the game early.
Hampton Bays eighth-grader Marley Tyler pitched the entire game and allowed one earned run on four hits, striking out two while not allowing a walk. Senior Nicole Yeager went 2 for 3 with a solo home run in the second inning and finished with two RBIs, while junior Davie Romer went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs.
Westhampton Beach Baseball
The Hurricanes took a tough-luck loss on Monday evening. Ahead 4-2 heading into the seventh and final inning, Islip, having tied the score earlier in the inning, completed the comeback when Mickey Maron hit a two-run double to give his team a 6-4 win.
Eastport South Manor Baseball
The Sharks had to come from behind to defeat Deer Park, 6-4, at home on Monday. Down 2-1 in the fourth inning, ESM senior Billy Goncalves hit a three-run home run to give ESM a two-run lead. Goncalves finished 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
Logan Frati got the win after throwing six innings. He struck out 11 and allowed six hits and two walks.
ESM is now 4-0 and tied for first place with Kings Park.
Eastport South Manor Boys Track
The Sharks picked up their second victory of the season on Monday, defeating Deer Park at home, 79-42.
Adam Malone set a new personal best in the triple jump with a 44-foot-3-inch jump. He also won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet 6 inches.
ESM is now 2-0 in League V.
