The Wellness Foundation of East Hampton will kick of its Spring Wellness Challenge the week of April 8, at locations in Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Southampton.
The six-week program aims to help participants lose weight, lower cholesterol and reduce prescription drug usage— all while eating heart healthy, quick and delicious foods.
The groups, led by trained facilitators, will meet weekly at each of the three locations for seven sessions over a six-week period where participants will receive step-by-step guidance to create a healthy body and lifestyle through lectures, discussions, cooking demonstrations, food samples and more. The program, which has been offered since 2009, has reported significant results in weight loss and lowered cholesterol for past committed participants. Graduates of the Challenge programs have reported increased energy levels, reduction in chronic pain, and positive shifts in their attitudes towards food and health, according to a release issued by the foundation.
Registration will be held on Monday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wellness Foundation’s monthly Vegan Potluck Dinner held at the East Hampton Middle School cafeteria. There is a fee of $150 per person. Registration materials including medical tests must be completed by April 5 at noon in order to be eligible to participate.
