Snowfall Causes Accidents During Morning Commute

Southampton Town Police reported at least six accidents in the snow Tuesday morning between approximately 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. No one was injured.

Three of the accidents took place on Sunrise Highway between Exit 65 and the eastern end of the highway near North Road in Southampton; New York State Police handled those. Southampton Town Police reponded to two accidents on County Road 39, one near Shrubland Road and the other near Tuckahoe Road, as well as an accident on Speonk-Riverhead Road near Old Country Road and Hickory Bend, police said.

Traffic was not rerouted, according to police.

I would submit that the accidents were not CAUSED by the snow, but by drivers not driving with respect for road conditions.
