There are multiple opportunities across the South Fork this holiday season to catch a performance of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker.”
Hampton Ballet Theatre School, based in Bridgehampton, will present its annual performance of the traditional “Nutcracker” this weekend at Guild Hall in East Hampton, choreographed by the school’s director, Sara Jo Strickland. The costumes were designed and hand sewn by Yuka Silvera, and lighting design is by Sebastian Paczynski. Resident guest artists Adam and Gail Baranello of A&G Dance Company will be dancing the Arabian Prince and Princess. Sharing the roles of Dew Drop Princess and Snow Queen will be Abigail Hubbell and Caitlin Hubbell, and dancing the role of Sugar Plum Fairy will be Rose Kelly. The role of Cavalier will be danced by Nick Peregrino. Timothy Sloan will dance the role of Dew Drop Prince and Juan Carlos will dance the role of Snow King.
Showtimes are Friday, December 9, at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 10, at 1 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 11, at 2 p.m. Advance tickets are $25, or $20 for children under 12. Bridgehampton’s Studio 3, which instructs more than 130 dancers from Southampton to Montauk, will present its version of “The Nutcracker,” dubbed “Mixed Nuts,” at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor. This year, “Mixed Nuts” takes place in Neverland of “Peter Pan” fame. Brooke Bierfriend, a 14-year-old Sag Harbor resident, plays the lead role of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Featuring 100 local students alongside a company of professional dancers, the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center’s production of “The Nutcracker” has been an annual tradition since 2010. This year’s cast has been rehearsing since September. Christiana Bitonti, the founder and director of Peconic Ballet Theatre, serves as artistic director.
