Long Island Grown, the annual series of conversations with East End, farmers, food and beverage producers, and chefs hosted by the Peconic Land Trust at Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton, will begin its fourth edition in March, and if the past is any indicator, it will sell out fast.
For 2017, the four-part series focuses on how local products are evolving to meet changing consumer tastes.
The series will begin Sunday, March 5, with Matt Schmitt of Schmitt Farms in Riverhead, Ron Goerler of Jamesport Vineyards and chef Jason Weiner of Almond Restaurant in Bridgehampton and on Sunday, March 19, Al Krupski of Krupski Farms in Peconic, Ray Wellen of Green Thumb Organic Farm in Water Mill, Barbara Shinn of Shinn Estate Vineyards in Mattituck, and chef Dee Muma of Dark Horse Restaurant in Riverhead. On Sunday, April 2, the guests will be Hank Kraszewski of Kraszewski Farms in Water Mill, Juan Micieli-Martinez of Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead and chef Colin Ambrose of Estia’s Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor. The series concludes Sunday, April 23, with Paul McCormick of Great Gun Shellfish in East Moriches, Anthony Nappa of Raphael Winery in Peconic and chef Taylor Knapp of PawPaw Restaurant in Greenport.
Each event will feature a panel discussion moderated by Laura Donnelly, who is a pastry chef and author in addition to being the food editor for The East Hampton Star. The start time is always 2 p.m. and after the presentations the attendees can mingle with the panelists over refreshments.
Registration will open on Monday, February 13. Call the Peconic Land Trust at 631-283-3195 or email events@peconiclandtrust.org.
