Two Seven-Figure Transactions Recorded In Quogue

We may not give enough real estate love to the west side of the Shinnecock Canal, mostly because we often do what Deep Throat advised and follow the money. However, a couple of recent transactions tell us it’s time to pay a little more attention.

Both are in the Village of Quogue. The sale with the highest price is 70 Quogue Street. For $4,200,000, the new owners, Gayle and Jeffrey Klein, will enjoy a post-modern house on 1 acre with 6 bedrooms and 8.5 baths, eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, a home office, a mahogany deck, and a covered porch. Outside, a limestone patio overlooks an in-ground pool. And all around is the bucolic village, with the Atlantic Ocean nearby.

The limited liability company 15 Ogden Lane is the new owner of a residence that remarkably is at that very same address (which probably saved a lot of paperwork). The 3,000-square-foot house is on 1.2 acres. Especially fetching is that there is an in-ground waterfront pool and a private boat dock. This gem sold for $3,255,000.

Also west of the canal, in Hampton Bays, a seven-figure sale reported last week was 10 Barrett Drive. Close to 3,000 square feet, this 5-bedroom, 4-bath home was purchased by NJL Ventures LLC for $1,500,000. And it’s not south of the highway but in the northern section of the hamlet, near Red Creek Park and close to Peconic Bay.

Tips for Avoiding Rental Scams

Rental scams are pervasive, targeting both those seeking permanent housing and those seeking a quick getaway or seasonal lease.
