Grammy-nominated Brazilian bassist and composer Nilson Matta’s trio will kick off the Parrish Art Museum’s outdoor concert series Jazz on the Terrace on Friday, June 28.

Mr. Matta is the artistic and music director of Samba Meets Jazz and has collaborated with popular Brazilian jazz musicians including Hermento Pascoal, Joao Gilberto, Luis Bonfa and Johnny Alf. He was also invited by cellist Yo Yo Ma to contribute to many projects, including a two-year international tour. Mr. Matta teaches too, conducting master classes worldwide and teaching at Class Collective in New York and Litchfield Jazz Camps.

Jazz on the Terrace, organized by Richie Siegler, features live, outdoor performances by accomplished jazz artists with the backdrop of East End sunsets. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs, blankets and picnics. Table seating is reserved for Golden Pear Cafe customers.

Tickets are free with museum admission, which is $12, or free for members, students and children. The event will begin on Friday, June 28, at 6 p.m. on the Parrish Art Museum terrace and lawn, located at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. This event is rain or shine. For more information, call 631-283-2118.
