The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) announced on July 15 that it will honor legendary director Brian De Palma with a lifetime achievement award as part of the 2019 festival along with a special screening of one of his many award-winning films. The 27th annual film festival runs October 10 to 14 during which time Mr. De Palma will participate in “A Conversation With” led by HIFF co-chair Alec Baldwin. Some of Mr. De Palma’s notable directing credits include “Blow Out,” “Scarface,” “The Untouchables,” “Carrie” and “Mission Impossible.”

“Few directors in movie history have generated the kinds of feelings found in Brian’s films,” Mr. Baldwin said. “Although he often worked with big stars and great writers, Brian is responsible for most of the excitement in his films.”

Additional information on HIFF’s summer programming, including the 2019 SummerDocs series, the year-round Now Showing series, and outdoor screenings in Southampton, can be found at hamptonsfilmfest.org. The 27th annual Hamptons International Film Festival will take place over Columbus Day weekend, October 10 to 14.
