Get ready for a party. And this is one you can bring the kids to!

The Parrish Art Museum’s sixth annual Summer Family Party from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, is not only about kids creating art alongside serious artists — including Michael Combs, Jeremy Dennis, Kathryn Lynch and Paton Miller — but it also includes a scavenger hunt, outdoor activities and a classic barbeque.

“One of the best parts of summer is the sound of children laughing and at play,” remarked the Parrish’s director, Terrie Sultan. “We’re always pleased to host this event that welcomes families to share in fun-filled art activities at the museum, led by East End artists, and fueled by fabulous snacks and a delicious barbecue dinner.

“This event has become a summer staple for families, focused on making projects, creating art, and general family fun.”

That fun includes creating Lego mosaics, decorating hats, applying jewelry tattoos and games on the lawn. Then there’s the barbecue with appropriately kid friendly options, topped off by dessert from an ice cream truck.

And what’s more fun than ice cream in August? Think about it.

The Summer Family Party is a benefit to support the museum’s year-round initiatives. Member tickets are $75 for children, $100 for adults (non-members $100/$125) for all activities, food, and beverages. To purchase, visit parrishart.org or call (631) 283-2118 ext. 150.
