Between Memorial Day and Labor Day in 2019, Airbnb hosts in Suffolk County raked in $37.7 million, according to the online marketplace for overnight accommodations in private homes.

Airbnb reports that there were 82,700 guest arrivals in Suffolk County between the holidays that unofficially mark the start and end of summer.

As of July 1, Airbnb had 740 active listings in Southampton Town alone. Between June 30, 2018, and July 1, 2019, there were 15,000 guest arrivals, according to Airbnb.

“Throughout the summer of 2019, we have continued to see the significant, positive impact of our short-term rental community across the Empire State, including on Long Island,” said Josh Meltzer, Airbnb’s head of Northeast public policy, in a statement. “With more guest arrivals this summer than ever before, hosts and small businesses have been able to enjoy the opportunities created by an expanded tourism economy.

“As we mark yet another historic summer and look ahead, our goal remains to work with the state and counties to ensure short-term rentals can continue to play a strong role in the New York economy, including by generating hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenue.”

Airbnb reports that the top five cities where guests visiting Long Island come from are New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
