Celebrate Long Island Brews
In celebration of the great breweries, specialty food purveyors, performing artists, and community of the region, on Saturday, October 26, at 6 p.m., the Parrish Art Museum Business Council is hosting The Art of the Brew — an evening of beer tasting, hors d’oeuvres, live music, gallery exploration, and zip tours of exhibitions on view — in an ideal setting for socializing and networking.
Four breweries bring their varied philosophies and flavors to the event: Great South Bay Brewery, Bay Shore; Moustache Brewing Co., Riverhead; Twin Forks Brew Co., Calverton; and Westhampton Beach Brewing Co. Pub-inspired bites designed to complement the brews are provided by The Golden Pear Café and Catering, with additional treats from the East End Food Institute, Greek and Mediterranean selections from Calissa, Water Mill, and more. Acoustic guitarist Mike Gari and a guest musician will perform live during the event.
“The Art of the Brew, like all Parrish Business Council events, is designed to celebrate the community and the connection between the museum and local businesses,” said Maria Fumai-Dietrich, membership and individual giving manager at the Parrish. “This volunteer committee of culturally engaged East End professionals provides year-round programming and networking opportunities for business members, and for the public with events like this fun beer tasting.”
The Art of the Brew will take place in the museum’s Lichtenstein Theater, with the breweries arranged in a circular bar, hors d’oeuvres tables positioned throughout the space, and high top tables. To encourage socializing and meeting new people, guests may join casual ice breaker games and venture into the galleries, which will be open throughout the evening, to explore art at their leisure or take fun, informative docent-led group zip tours of the exhibitions. Currently on view is “Abstract Climates: Helen Frankenthaler in Provincetown,” featuring large-scale paintings by the artist who frequented the East End and was influenced by visits to Jackson Pollock’s Springs studio.
Open to adults age 21 and above, admission to The Art of the Brew is $55 for Parrish members, $75 for non-members. Make reservations by contacting membership@parrishart.org or 631-283-2118 ext. 167. The Parrish Art Museum is at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill.
