If it’s been a while since you’ve visited LongHouse Reserve, now is your chance. The public is invited to join Southampton Town Trustee Ann Welker, Southampton Arts and Culture Committee (SHACC) Secretary Shane Weeks and the group’s chairwoman Hope Sandrow for “SHACC on the Road,” an art tour to LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton.

The tour is Saturday, November 2, and begins at Southampton Town Hall at 10 a.m. where participants will board a bus to LongHouse where executive director Matko Tomicic will offer a tour. The group will return to Southampton around 2 p.m.

"I discovered LongHouse on National Public Gardens Day. I heard about it from others for years, but had never made it there myself,” said Welker. “I wish we all took more advantage of the treasures in our backyards. It is now one of my favorite places on the East End. Whether visiting for a tour, a lecture, an opening, or simply a walk through the gardens, LongHouse never disappoints.”

“This town-sponsored trip invites our community to join town officials to visit and learn more about some of our favorite artists and cultural organizations on the East End,” Weeks added. “As a founding member of SHACC, it has been a pleasure to see how this committee and ‘SHACC on the Road’ Tours have grown.”

Founded in 2017, the goal of SHACC is to inspire engagement with art in historical, cultural, and social contexts on the East End. The tour is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required at shacc@optimum.net.
