A woman who claims she was raped in East Hampton by Goldman Sachs executive Jason Lee in August was granted an order of protection on Friday by Suffolk County Criminal Court Judge Barbara Kahn. The order of protection prohibits Mr. Lee or anyone in his employment from contacting her.Mr. Lee, 37, was charged with rape in the first degree, sexual misconduct and assault in the third degree last August after police said he raped the 20-year-old woman at his rental home on Clover Leaf Lane. The woman told East Hampton Town Police she was assaulted in a downstairs bathroom. According to a press release from the Suffolk County district attorney’s office, police officers had been called to the house “on an unrelated matter and then were informed of the rape [and] found Lee hiding in the back seat of his car.”The woman, an citizen of Ireland, filed for an order of protection on May 9 of this year, saying that a private investigator hired by Mr. Lee showed up at her home in that country. Robert Clifford, a spokesperson for Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota’s office, said a private investigator approached the woman at her home, presenting her with photographs of an injury she allegedly sustained during the attack.“This court order will provide a level of protection for the victim of this crime, now at home in her native Ireland, who feels that she has been harassed and intimidated by visitors in the employ of the defendant, Jason Lee,” Mr. Spota said in the press release. “We are pleased the court included in the order of protection a specific provision not only barring the defendant from any contact with our victim, but also specifying Lee to refrain from communication with her through third parties.” Mr. Spota said the woman “feels she is being watched, increasing her fear and causing her great distress.”Mr. Lee was forced to surrender his passport after his arraignment last September. He has been on paid administrative leave from Goldman Sachs since the arrest and is due to appear in Suffolk County Criminal Court in Riverhead on July 18.
