In East Hampton Town, the Montauk, Springs, Amagansett and Wainscott school districts are closed. Also, Thursday night’s play at the Montauk School has been postponed and rescheduled for Friday.

In Southampton Town, the websites for the Southampton, Tuckahoe, Sag Harbor, Bridgehampton, Hampton Bays, East Quogue, Remsenburg-Speonk and Eastport South Manor school districts are reporting that all classes were canceled Thursday.

All Westhampton Beach schools are closed as well. The district’s kindergarten registration originally planned for Thursday has been rescheduled for Friday, and will run from 9 until 11 a.m. and from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.

The condition of Southampton Town roads compared to Brookhaven this morning is so bad that it is embarrassing. It makes you wonder where the tax money goes?? Road repairs and drainage? Nope. Garbage pick up? Nope. Leaf pick up? Nope. Timely snow removal? Nope.

There are 6 barns in southampton town that have roughly 5-8 employees per barn...at any point in time they may have 1-4 plow trucks operable due to needing repairs while working. The highway budget has been cut repetitively and they are unable to add much needed equipment. Contractors to help are in short supply. If you look at your tax bill highway is one of your lesser taxes. Not the fault of the highway department. They do the best they can with the repetitive cuts to their budget and small ...more

Except of course, the voters.

My comment holds NO Criticism of the workers who are sometimes allowed to do their jobs... It is a criticism of the appropriation of money by the Town. And the reason why I was on the roads this morning was in fact for local plowing.

Thank you for plowing, it is greatly appreciated :-) as you can see I agree with you about how funds are appropriated by the town which hinders certain departments not in favor from being able to do their jobs safely and efficiently. Please be safe when your out plowing :-)

We pay over a dozen people $100,000 per year and for the life of me I don't know what they do. The guys plowing make next to nothing in comparison. Look at the salaries of Russell Kratoville and the Town Attorneys. The Comptroller gets a car and over $100,000 and is hardly there. Go after those guys, not the guys up all night plowing. Geez....

lirider, do you have a clue as to what town attorneys are paid?

The Town Attorney Tiffany Scarlato makes $120,000 to give away the house in litigation. Name several cases where they fight and win a case. I shouldn't have said all Town Attorneys. Or you get the Town Board appointing guys like Mike Sordi or Garett Swenson. both left office due to being scum. http://www.27east.com/news/article.cfm/Southampton/324527/Town-Releases-Details-Of-Sordi-Separation-Agreement .

She is THE town attorney. The department head most of them make less than $75,000.00

Yes it did. I was really surprised at how much ice was on 39. I hope this is the end of the snow for this year. I need to see some grass.
