Leading winemakers of the East End including Roman Roth of Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, Kareem Massoud of Paumanok Vineyards in Aquebogue and Kelly Urbanik Koch of Macari Vineyards in Mattituck will discuss the ever-changing nature of one of the country’s most important wine regions at East Hampton Library on Thursday, July 20.
The discussion is part of the Tom Twomey Series, a discussion series focusing on topics relating to the East End such as architecture, landscape design, the environment, local history and government, real estate and food and wine. This year is the third season of the series dedicated to Tom Twomey, the late chairman of the library’s board of managers.
The vintner panel will be hosted by Brown Harris Stevens salesman Rick Gilbert and moderated by Amy Zavatto, the director of the Long Island Merlot Alliance, which serves to educate consumers about the quality of merlot and merlot-based blends produced on Long Island. The trade organization promotes the production of superior quality, age-worthy, balanced, classic merlot and merlot-based blends to consumers worldwide.
The discussion will take place at East Hampton Library on Thursday, July 20, at 6 p.m. A reception featuring a complimentary tasting of each vineyard’s wine will follow. Admission is free and no reservations are required. For more information, visit tomtwomeyseries.org.
