Ron Baron's court date postponed

Mar 17, 2009 4:12 PM

The court date for Ron Baron—the East Hampton man who faces charges after he was accused of razing a rare dune and building an 800-foot concrete wall in front of his $103 million property on Further Lane without the necessary permits—has been postponed.

Mr. Baron was expected in East Hampton Town Court on Monday, but his attorney, Tina Piette, filed a letter last week asking for the date to be postponed because she would be away. Town Attorney Tiffany Scarlato said the new arraignment date is March 30.

Reached by telephone, Ms. Piette said on Tuesday, “Honestly, I’m not at liberty to talk about it. I was away last week.”

Ms. Piette was in East Hampton later on Monday, as she threw a Republican Party fund-raiser that evening.
