A lifetime emeritus member of the East Quogue Fire Department, he served as a volunteer for more than 40 years. He and his wife were also members of the East Quogue United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees and as a trustee and church custodian.

After several trips across the country, he and his wife moved to Alabama in 1996. In 1999, they helped to rebuild and subsequently reopen Morgan’s Chapel in Bon Secour, Alabama.

He is survived by four daughters, Dianne Watson-Baulch and her husband Doug of Florida, Lois Holley and her husband Robert of East Quogue, Lorri Epperson and her husband Jake of Virginia, and Jane White of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jennifer Watson of Pennsylvania, William Watson and his wife Jennifer of Mastic Beach, and Amee Holley Mazurkiewicz and her husband Frank of East Quogue; and three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Jillian Watson and Kaitlynn Mazurkiewicz.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Jeannette M. White, he was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Lucas, and a son-in-law, Thomas F. Watson III.

The family will hold a memorial service at Morgan’s Chapel in Alabama on Sunday, November 28. A local memorial service will be held in East Quogue at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Morgan’s Chapel Memorial Fund, 6325 County Road 10, PO Box 88, Bon Secour, AL, 36511 would be appreciated by the family.
