East Quogue Elementary School had a busy day of fundraising one recent Friday as both students and teachers raised money for the American Heart Association and collected food for the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays.
The first event, “Hoops for Hearts,” ran all day on February 3 and gave students the opportunity to raise money for the American Heart Association by playing various basketball-related games. Students participated during their physical education classes in the school gym, which was set up that day as stations so students could experience the different aspects of basketball, such as dribbling, shooting and running.
“This is for the American Heart Association. Every grade participates whether they raise money or not,” said Danielle Davin, one of the school’s physical education teachers and an event organizer.
