Mary Frances Testani Phillips Of East Quogue Dies May 11

Mary Frances Testani Phillips died on May 11 in the East Quogue home of her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Isabella Phillips, who cared for her through a long illness. She was 91.

Born on January 18, 1927. in Hornell, New York, to Giuseppe Natale Testani and Mary Susan Testani (Morey), she met her husband, Jack Phillips Sr., on a train on Pearl Harbor Day; they married in 1944. The couple raised six children over their 72-year marriage. Mrs. Phillips was always active, engaged in one of many favorite activities includin sewing, knitting, weaving, baking, square dancing, taking her family camping. She served on the East Quogue Board of Education.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Phillips Sr.; two sons Jack Phillips Jr. (Ruth) and Joseph Phillips (Valerie); a daughter, Mary Phillips Brown (Todd); and a grandson, Joseph Phillips.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by three children, Bruce Phillips Sr. (Isabella) of East Quogue, Susan Phillips (Neal Bataller) of Maryland, and Burr Phillips (Patti) of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Visitation will be at the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on Friday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a short service at noon. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at at Oakwood Cemetery, East Quogue.
