Jane H. Conway of East Quogue died at her home on April 4. She was 85.
Ms. Conway was born on June 8, 1928, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to John and Hazel Grant. As a young girl, she enjoyed the excitement of Coney Island and spending time at the family’s vacation home in Monroe. After graduation, she worked as a bookbinder. She had dated boxer Rocky Marciano during part of his undefeated reign.
A longtime resident of Pine Neck Landing, Ms. Conway raised five children alongside her husband, Larry, a Long Island State Parkway Police sergeant, who predeceased her. Her favorite pastimes were boating, fishing and gardening. For many years, she was a member of the East Quogue United Methodist Church.
Ms. Conway is survived by her children, Raymond and wife Theresa of Hampton Bays, and Diane, Robert and wife Patricia, and Susan, all of East Quogue. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Bryan, Gregory and Christopher; and one great-grandchild, Brynn Aleeah. She was predeceased by a daughter, Catherine M. Meyer.
A wake was held on April 7 at R. J. O’Shea Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A prayer service was held at the funeral home on April 8 with the Reverend George B. Mangan officiating. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
