In 1978, George Dalecki bought a new house in Wading River. While working on its basement, he decided that stained glass windows would provide the perfect finishing touch to the room.
That opinion changed after he started pricing them.
As a result, Mr. Dalecki put those plans on hold until, several months later, he was sent on a house call by his former employer, Pitney Bows, an office supplies company. The former customer service representative recalled the house he visited being filled with a variety of stained glass—there were windows, multiple sun-catchers and the owner, who dabbled in the trade, stored scores of the multi-colored glass sheets from which his creations were made throughout his home.
