Eastport South Manor Schools Superintendent Mark Nocero’s proposed $87.2 million 2012-13 budget, unveiled for the first time during last week’s Board of Education meeting, maintains all current programs and staffing levels without piercing the state’s 2 percent tax cap.
The superintendent’s tentative budget, presented to the board on February 15, also includes 13 new initiatives that would cost an estimated $235,080. But even with the suggested additions, Mr. Nocero said his proposed spending plan will fall within the requirements of the new state tax cap. District officials stressed that the figures are preliminary and that they are expected to fluctuate as the budget process continues.
