Going into the match with Bellport, the Eastport South Manor wrestling team knew it was in a 30-0 hole before a single bout was wrestled, however, the Sharks made the most of the bouts that were wrestled, winning five of eight, four by pin, to edge Bellport, 41-39, on January 16 on the road.
Bellport’s Alex Labranche opened the match with a 5-0 decision against Joe Zarcone at 220 pounds but then the Sharks rolled off five straight victories.
Shark Sal Castellano needed just 1:37 to pin Zach Gentzell at 285 pounds and then John Busiello pinned Austin Gross in 3:38 at 99 pounds and Nick Garone scored six points at 106 with a pin of Malcolm Harris in 2:34.
