Genevieve Vicik Of Wading River Dies April 22

Genevieve Vicik of Wading River, formerly of Eastport, died on April 22. She was 87.

Ms. Vicik was born in Eastport on October 30, 1926, to Joseph and Anna Pollack. She was married to Edward P. Vicik on September 7, 1947, and lived in Eastport for the next 34 years. Later, they moved to Wading River, where they resided for 32 years. She spent her last two years at the Westhampton Care Center.

Ms. Vicik was a member of the Eastport Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years and was also an active member of the Senior Citizens Club and the Over 50 Club of Wading River.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edward; a son, Barry Vicik and wife Lyn of Eastport; a daughter, Maureen Nowakowski and husband Lou of Eastport; and three grandchildren, Christopher and James Vicik and Meghan Nowakowski. She is also survived by a sister, Dolores Chituk of Riverhead, a goddaughter, Henrietta Chituk of Cutchogue, and sisters-in-law, Grace Zeh of Wading River and Kay Vicik of Manorville, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A wake was held on April 24 at Sinnicksons Moriches Funeral Home in Center Moriches. A funeral was held at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Center Moriches. A private burial was held at the Eastport Cemetery.
