Sharon Elayne Angell of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, formerly of Eastport, died on August 20 at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. She was 70.
Survivors said she was a cheerleading coach, teacher, Bible study leader and choir member who embraced her faith in God, adding that she lived many decades with a disease that could have caused her bitterness and anger. Instead, they said, she endured it with grace and peace, inspiring people all around her.
She was raised in Camden, New Jersey, and her father died when she was only 3. She graduated from Houghton College, where she met her husband, Jonathan, who survives and to whom she was married for nearly 48 years. They lived in Eastport for 39 years before moving to Dillsburg to be closer to her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Jodi McCarty and husband Brad and Heidi Wilkey and husband Nathan; and nine grandchildren, Maddie, Ellie, Morgan, Janie, Ian, Sam, Nevi, Finnley and Millie. She is also survived by two brothers, Timothy and Robert; and a sister, Joy.
A memorial service was held August 24 at Monaghan Presbyterian Church in Dillsburg.
Memorial donations may be made to Camp Sankanac, 68 Bertolet School Road, Spring City, PA 19475.
