Lately, it seems as though New York sports fans are in a state of confusion.
Football fans, especially those coming down off the high created by the Giants and their magical Super Bowl run, have had to adjust to life without football on Sunday. There’s golf but, personally, I think that is almost as boring as watching bowling on television.
There’s hockey and basketball—now we’re talking, right? They aren’t necessarily
Sunday
sports, but at least they’re
real
sports. (Yes, I can hear the golf enthusiasts groaning at me.) We have the first-place Rangers, who are looking very good, and the last place Islanders, looking like, well, let’s not go there. And then there is the granddaddy of all sports: The Daytona 500.
