Three Accused Of Running Brothel In Flanders

Sep 26, 2012 1:07 PM

New York State Police said on Sunday said that they had arrested a trio of women after a cooperative investigation and charged them for allegedly running a brothel in Flanders.

Mariluz Fonseca, 62, was charged with promoting prostitution, a third-degree felony, in connection with activities reported at her Flanders Road residence. Two other residents of the same address, Milady Leclerc-Roman, 59, and Belkis Serrano-Tejeda, 40, were charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor.

Police said they began their investigation several months ago after receiving a tip about the brothel. The State Police Special Investigations Unit worked with Troop L in Riverside, and also with the Department of Homeland Security and the Southampton Town Police Department. On Wednesday morning, Troopers said they could not provide information about the immigration status for the three women, and would not say why the federal Department of Homeland Security was involved in the investigation.

Following their arrest, the three women were processed at the State Police barracks in Riverside and were held at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Detention Facility pending their arraignment on Saturday. Troopers could not provide details about their arraignments.

What does Homeland Security have to do with a brothel in Flanders? Unless they were planning a terrorist attack, Homeland Security is getting too involved with civilian affairs.

Homeland Security in this case ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is the agency that took over the responsibilities of the legacy Immigration Department. It would be prudent to believe if DHS/ICE was involved the residency status of the subject(s) was in question. So think before you write moron.

This is a gold rush town for hispanics. Lawlessness rules and anything goes. Complete with cowboys on bicycles but these women are no Miss Kitty!

Our quiet, law abiding friendly little towns are disappearing.Taking with them so much of our lives. The Federal Govt. has allowed at least 12 million illegal aliens to stroll into our Country. How do we combat these illegals that are engaging in everything from drunken driving with no insurance, prostitution to mugging rape and murder. The Police act after the fact. However how about us? Our lives are being severely impacted and no Town or County official seems to care. The whole Riverhead Town Board ...more

Problem here is that the "brothel" is located in Southampton Town and the bowling alley and Town Board you speak of are in Riverhead Town.

What does the Riverhead Town Board have to do with anything? And I didn't know that Town Boards and Police were Synonomous

Don't need the exact address, Joe, but another site is showing a picture of the house and it is clearly located in Riverside, not Flanders.
By Phadreus1340 (144), Southampton on Sep 24, 12 1:17 PM
Actually, it IS in Flanders -- northside of Route 24 between Ludlam and Whitebrook. Riverside in east of there.
By Frank Wheeler (1825), Northampton on Sep 26, 12 1:31 PM
No, it isn't. As one travesl in an easterly direction on State Route 24 North, across Conty Road 105. one will note a "Welcome to Riverside" sign on the northeast corner of 24 and 105. It has always been assumed by all that Riverside starts at that location and Flanders end there. Unless of course you wish to address the apparent demise of the Hamlet of Silverbrook which some would claim starts around Jeski's or the old Clara Bells, and ends at 105.

Oh, we'll call that bluff. I frequented local businesses(no brothels, though), and didn't rent to illegals. And I'll be at the polls bright and early in November.

I wonder whether anyone is investigating whether these women were trafficked and working in the brothel against their will. That they were all living at the same address raises questions.

Prostitution is the world's oldest profession. Not sure changing who mows your lawn will change that.

Your overly simplistic view of the world is embarrassing.

With all this talk about illegal immigrants need I remind you that all your great great great grandparents were immigrants many of which crossed the border or came with a visa. Others came aboard ships filled with rats hidden in boxes, in inhumane conditions and the native Americans were the first to show them how to live in this great land, just to find a better future for their families. Also, the United States ( A.K.A the melting pot) is a country based on immigrants. What would the Hamptons ...more

Our grandparent's came here legally. There are so many illegals here & gov.
Does nothing. They can drive without licenses no insurance etc etc. Are you all aware that the only things that happens if they are in an accident ,all they get is a ticket. This is a very serious . Our elected official's do not care.

I've lived her all my life & it used to be a beautiful place to live. But, if we keep turning our heads to what's going on around us, we will be sorry. Crime is everywhere, true, but in our small community that can be avoided makes no sense. This town is so small the authorities can do something about, but doesn't. If they're illegal & most of them are, they should be sent back. Crime will pick up including, our children missing, rapes, etc. The law won't do anything about it until it happens ...more

Not that you would care, but yr statement is false. The number of immigrants on LI is nearly 500,000 people. Of that number it is estimated 75,000 to 80,000 are here out of status with immigration.
Your guess that most are "illegal" betrays not just your ignorance or laziness to look up the numbers, but a presumption most immigrants are "illegal" just by look. Many would call yr bias by it's real name: racism.

Only 75 or 80 thousand!!! Oh I feel much better now. Please don't call it racism. That term is thrown around so much these days its lost its meaning. People are concerned. Especially since you minimize the impact of 75 to 80 thousand people not accounted for. Of those 75 or 80 thousand how many are women with 4 brand new american citizens in strollers filling up our hospitals and school. I welcome all legal law abiding people to a better life here.

Less than 1% have 4 children. Of the 80,000 over 50,000 are males, and the females parents average 2.2 children

Would fish sticks be happy if they were all legal?
By EastEnd68 (888), Westhampton on Oct 2, 12 3:31 PM
So what your saying is that 30 thousand are females with an average of 2.2 children. Thats 62,224 children. I rest my case.
