Irene M. O’Neill of East Hampton died on March 10. She was 83.
Born in Liverpool, England, she moved to the United States when she was 21. She raised her five children in Verona, New Jersey, before moving to East Hampton more than 20 years ago. In East Hampton, she went to work for Tina Fredericks Real Estate, first as a bookkeeper and later as an agent and broker. She enjoyed spending time at Atlantic Beach, decorating, and entertaining friends, family and guests at her bed-and-breakfast.
She was a member of the British Women’s Club.
Ms. O’Neill is survived by her husband, Richard O’Neill; five children, James O’Neill, Richard O’Neill, Michael O’Neill and Patricia Merwin, all of New Jersey, and Eileen O’Neill of Brooklyn; 10 grandchildren, Matthew O’Neill, Scott O’Neill, Brynne O’Neill, Casey O’Neill, Carson O’Neill, Brendan O’Neill, Amy O’Neill, Lauren O’Neill, Alyssa Merwin and Jasmin Smith; a great-granddaughter, Ava; and two brothers, William Kelly and Joseph Kelly, both of England. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Kelly and Michael Kelly, as well as her parents, William and Winifred Kelly.
A memorial service will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton on Saturday, March 28, at 11:30 a.m.
