Campaign Diary 2013: Town Board Democratic Candidates Will Hold Forum In Spring

Jun 18, 2013 6:29 PM
Democrats are kicking off campaign season in East Hampton Town by hosting a community forum in Springs next Wednesday.

The "Springs Community Listen In" will be led by Springs resident and Democratic Town Board candidate Kathee Burke Gonzalez. Her running mates, supervisor candidate Larry Cantwell and Town Board candidate Job Potter, will also attend the meeting.

"Larry Cantwell will chair the meeting, which the candidates hope will be an opportunity for residents throughout the community to express their thoughts, concerns and aspirations about living in Springs, and what they think town government can do to improve the quality of life in the Springs community," according to a press release by the East Hampton Town Democratic Committee.

The event will be the first of a series of hamlet "Listen Ins" the group will host throughout East Hampton Town.

Meet The CandidatesA fourth annual Group for Good Government meet-the-candidates event will occur at the home of Laurie and Arthur Malman this weekend.

There will be no speeches or fundraising, just "wine—hors d'oeuvres—good cheer," according to an email invitation. Mr. Malman is a co-chair of the group.

The event is "a chance to meet and ask questions of candidates who will appear on the East Hampton ballot this fall while enjoying wine and cheese and catching up with old friends and local town and village officials."

The event will take place at 99 Georgica Close Road in East Hampton on Saturday, June 22, at 4 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, June 23.
