East Hampton Independence Party Hosts Screenings Next Week

Apr 16, 2013 4:59 PM

The East Hampton Independence Party will hold screenings for all open town seats next Tuesday, April 23.

The screenings will take place at Ashawagh Hall in Springs beginning at 6 p.m. Screenings will take place for the positions of supervisor, town board, town clerk, superintendent of highways, town justice, assessor and town Trustee, according to a press release issued by the party.

Those interested in screening should contact Chairwoman Elaine Jones at 267-8820 or Vice Chairwoman Pat Mansir at 324-4131 and provide their resumes before the screening date.

So far, Democratic East Hampton Village Administrator Larry Cantwell, former Democratic supervisor candidate Zachary Cohen and current Planning Board Vice Chairwoman Nancy Keeshan are scheduled to screen for supervisor with the party, said Ms. Jones. Town Clerk Fred Overton who was nominated by the East Hampton Town Republican Committee to run for Town Board is scheduled to screen with the Independence Party for Town Board as well, she said, and Town Trustee Joe Bloecker is scheduled to screen for assessor.

Screenings for both the Republican and Democratic parties appear to still be in progress. The Independence Party screenings will take place in one day and will be open to the public, Ms. Jones said.
