Robert Earl Dean of East Hampton died at Southampton Hospital on January 4. He was 79.
Born on May 8, 1934, in Torrington, Connecticut, to Earl and Alice Dean, he was an electronics engineer with Bell Laboratories. He attended Gilbert High School in Winsted, Connecticut, and the University of Hartford, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1953 to 1957.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, David Dean of New Jersey and Nancy Bunce and Brian Dean, both of East Hampton; six grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
Visitation was scheduled to be held at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton on Wednesday, January 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Mass at Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton was scheduled at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, with interment to follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery.
