An East Hampton man who was duck hunting was found dead on Monday night in the snow near Sammy’s Beach in East Hampton.

According to East Hampton Town Police, 73-year-old Vincent D’Angelo had been trying to free his vehicle, which had become stuck in a snowdrift on the beach access road to Sammy’s Beach.

Mr. D’Angelo was found at approximately 4:22 p.m. by two men who were walking their dog nearby, police said. Mr. D’Angelo had apparently left his East Hampton home at approximately 3:15 p.m. and drove to Sammy’s Beach to go duck hunting when his car got stuck in the snow, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by East Hampton Village Ambulance personnel, who were on the scene with Town Police.

The Suffolk County medical examiner’s office was investigating the incident and had yet not offered a cause of death.
