The Ross School will soon open its latest in a series of exhibitions curated by its seventh-grade class, titled “Luminous Illusions: A Collection of Works by Three Artists.”

This annual showcase displays the work of local artists, this year including Michael Butler, an artist previously featured in the showcase native to Sag Harbor, Carly Haffner, an East-Ender who has had her work on display in galleries in Bridgehampton and New York City, and Gabriele Raacke, an artist from Germany whose work can be found globally.

Each artist draws influence from landscapes of their childhood and the memories they hold in relation to those. They focus on themes of home and community.

The students interviewed the artists, visited their studios, and set up the artwork in the Ross Gallery located in Building 3 at Ross’s Upper School on its East Hampton campus.

A reception will mark the opening of the exhibition on Friday, June 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. The show will remain on view until June 18. For more information, visit ross.org.
