The East Hampton girls swim team put in a strong performance against one of the top teams in the county, beating Sayville 91-77 on September 27, moving to 2-0 in League III, 2-2 overall.

Sayville (1-1) is the defending League III champion and finished fourth in the county last year, so the Lady Bonackers knew it would be a close meet. They held the lead the entire time, although Sayville closed the gap to as little as four points midway through the meet at the East Hampton YMCA Rec Center. The Lady Bonackers outscored Sayville, 40-23, down the stretch to cruise to victory.

Junior Sophia Swanson was named the Swimmer of the Meet by her teammates. She swam the butterfly portion of East Hampton’s winning 200-yard medley relay, won the 200 IM , was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay, and was third in the 100 butterfly.

Several Lady Bonac swimmers achieved personal-best times in one or more events, including Corinna Castillo, Reghan Anderson, Oona Foulser, Jane Brierley, Caroline Hoff, Lisbeth Leon, Nicole Guitierrez, Margaret Breen, Sophia Swanson, Kiara Bailey-Williams, Camryn Hatch, and Alyssa Brabant. Brierley also hit the county-meet qualifying time in the 50 free, and Darcy McFarland did the same in the 100 backstroke.

East Hampton was scheduled to visit West Babylon for a meet on October 4.
