The East Hampton/Pierson boys swim team will be looking to continue the success it has seen in recent years, which includes placing second during the League II regular season last season, second at the league championship meet, and eighth in the county.

Leading the way will be senior co-captain Ethan McCormac, who will be looking to qualify for the New York State Swimming Championships for the third time this season. He had his best showing at the state level last season when he placed 21st in the 100-yard freestyle and 54th in the 200-yard free. Fellow East Hampton seniors Ryan Bahel and Jordan Uribe and Pierson senior Ryan Duryea were selected by the team, along with McCormac, to be its captains this season.

Joining the four captains on the team are East Hampton seniors Thor Botero, Ramses Jimenez, Avery Martinsen, Kenny Sanchez and Luke Tyrrell, juniors Aidan Forst, Callum Menelaws, Will Midson and Kevin Pineda, sophomores Ben Berkhofer, Miles Coppola, Kai Esposito, Christian Gaines, Emmett Harrington and Owen McCormac, freshmen Aidan McCormac, James Midson and Daniel Piver and eighth-graders Curran O’Donnell and Tenzin Tamang. Pierson sends over, along with Ryan Duryea, juniors Edward Hoff and Conor Flanagan, sophomores Joey Badilla, Jack Duryea, Colin Harrison and Fernando Menjura and eighth-grader Nicholas Badilla. East Hampton head coach Craig Brierley said he expects the boys to compete with heart this season and “embrace the work, commit to the team, and add value.”

East Hampton will compete in League II once again this season with Deer Park, returning league champion Hauppauge, Lindenhurst, North Babylon, Northport, Sayville/Bayport-Blue Point and West Islip. The Bonackers have their first meet of the season scheduled for this Wednesday, December 5, in a non-league match against Ward Melville at the East Hampton YMCA ReCenter at 5:30 p.m. The team will have a dedication ceremony prior to the meet for the new scoreboard that was donated by the East Hampton Kiwanis Club.
