A fire broke out on the deck of a residence in East Hampton on Tuesday evening.

Members of the East Hampton Fire Department and East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance responded to the fire at 123 Accabonac Road at 8:22 p.m. and the fire was knocked down quickly before it could extend into the interior of the residence.

According to Chief Gerard Turza Jr. of the East Hampton Fire Department, Brian Stanis, the second assistant fire chief, arrived first on the scene. “The fire was starting to spread to the side and broke a window,” Chief Turza said on Wednesday afternoon. “Arriving crews made an aggressive attack and contained the fire to the area of origin.” Chief Turza said the fire was extinguished in roughly 10 minutes.

No injuries were reported, and, according to Chief Turza, Thomas Baker, the assistant chief fire marshal, was on the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Chief Turza said the cause of the fire was not deemed suspicious.
